Whether you own a bakery at the corner or work as an independent consultant or accountant, internet is an important part of your business. Even more so, your website is the face of your business and yourself. At the same time, if you’re not a celebrity or a royal, the chances are that people actually don’t care that much to follow up with what’s going on with you and your business. This is why you need to give them some value – and this is where your blog comes in. It’s 2018, and reality is – if you don’t have a blog, you’re already late. However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start. It only means you should start as soon as possible. Here are some tips that will help!
#1 Focus on Your Customers and Clients and Their Needs!
If you only want to write about something that’s only interesting to you, in the way that’s interesting only to you… well, you should start a journal or a scrapbook. Or maybe a hobby blog.
If you want to get more leads and connect with your customers and clients, you need to put them in focus. What problems can you help them solve? What answers can you offer them? What tips could you share? What can help them do more and better?
#2 Keep It Short, Informative and Don’t Forget Humor
Don’t write epic novels instead of blog posts. There is time and place for everything. If you are looking into longer forms, maybe you can offer an ebook, guides, tutorials etc. Your blog posts should be concise and to the point. They need to bring some value and be informative. And you also need to spice it all up with a bit of humor when you see a chance.
People tend to overdo some parts, and forget about the others, for instance, be too specific and serious that it gets too long. On the other hand, sometimes the whole point of a blog post is forgotten when it’s all about some jokes and content without added value or useful information.
#3 Be Organized and Publish Regularly
It would be great if your readers found something new every time they visited your website. Of course you might not have time for daily updates, but you should publish at least 1 blog post per week. If this is too much, then try with 1 blog post per 2 weeks. Look at that this way: each time someone visits your website to check if there is something new, and there are no updates, the chances are lower they will return.
Another important thing to remember is to write regularly. No matter if it is 1 or 2 or 5 blog posts per week or month, once you commit, you need to keep up with the schedule!
